How to Choose Suitable Gospel Tracts for Children

While there are certainly many excellent gospel tracts for children available, it is important to realize that there is no single gospel tract that would be ideal for every person and every occasion. Giving careful thought to some of these factors below will help you choose the most appropriate child evangelism tool for your specific situation.

1

A Suitable Tract for Children is Age-Appropriate

In our article “How to Choose Gospel Tracts for Children – Is it Engaging?” we mentioned that a good gospel tract for kids is visually attractive, interesting to read, easy to understand and interacts with the child.

However, what is easy to understand to a twelve-year-old may not be so to a five-year-old. Similarly what a five-year-old finds visually attractive may not appeal as much to a twelve-year-old.

While some children’s tracts are designed for a wide age range (example: A Really Happy Place! Animated Tract), some may be tailored to older children (example: John 3:16 Grunge FlipAbout).

A Suitable Tract for Children is Appropriate for the Way you Plan to Use It

Are you planning to present the gospel to the child using the tract, or are you planning to give it to the child to read it on his or her own?

While some tracts for kids are designed to be used in both ways (example: I’m Jumping For Joy! Animated Tract), some may not make much sense if you simply give it to the child without any explanations (example: Wordless Animated Tract).

Are you presenting the gospel to one child, or will you be speaking to a big group of children? Once again, some popular gospel tracts come in two different versions – a smaller version for use in a one-to-one or small group setting and a larger version for use with a bigger audience (example: Where’s Everybody Going? Animated Tract and Where’s Everybody Going? Animated Tract LARGE Version).

3

A Suitable Tract for Children is Fitting for the Occasion

While most tracts for kids are meant to be used all year round, there are some seasonal ones that are specially tailored to the occasion. Such seasonal tracts can be very effective as they take advantage of the buzz and excitement surrounding the occasion.

For instance, if you are organizing a Christmas outreach, The True Story of Christmas Animated Tract may be the ideal Christmas Tract.

Or if you are planning an Easter event, The Lost Easter Egg Pop-up Tract may be the perfect Easter Tract for you.

And for giving away little treats during Halloween, this Halloween Tract is designed specifically for that purpose.

These occasions often provide wonderful opportunities to share the good news of salvation.

4

A Suitable Tract for Children is Culturally Appropriate

The gospel is universal, but there are ways to make it more relevant and meaningful to your target audience. A suitable tract is sensitive to the culture of the child you are planning to present the gospel to.

For instance, a Halloween themed tract would not be very effective in culture that does not celebrate Halloween. And if you are planning to use the gospel tract in a country where English is not their first language, you may want to choose a tract that is “wordless”.

“Wordless” child evangelism tools such as the Gospel Buttons FlipAbout or the Salvation Bracelet can help to break down language barriers.
