gospel-presentation-bleach

What to Do

Fill half the water jug with water.

  • This water represents us.

Use the eyedropper or thin straw to add a few drops of food coloring into the water.

  • This represents sin in our lives.
  • Be careful not to add too much food coloring, otherwise the bleach may not be sufficient to remove all the color.

Slowly pour liquid bleach into the water jug.

  • The water should become clear again.
  • This illustrates the cleansing power of Jesus.
  • The amount of bleach required will depend on the concentration of the bleach you use, and how much food coloring has been added.

Caution:

  • Keep in mind that the food coloring and bleach will stain or discolor clothes, carpets and even some furniture. You may like to cover the table top with a plastic sheet and have a rag handy to wipe up any stains immediately.
  • It is important to experiment with this before presenting it to the child. Bleach comes in varying concentrations, so the number of drops of food coloring that can be added to the water differs significantly.
  • You may want to dilute the food coloring beforehand.

What to Say

Here are some key points to cover as you present the gospel.

You may need to tailor your gospel presentation to suit the age of your audience.

Use Questions to engage your listener and to check understanding.

Use Bible Verses where appropriate, but be careful not to overload your listener with too many verses.

Fill half the water jug with water.

1 This water represents us.

Do you think you are as clean as this water?

2 But I am not perfect.
I don’t think anyone here is perfect either.

Use the eyedropper or straw to add a few drops of food coloring into the water.

3 This food coloring represents the wrong things that we have done. These are called sins.

  • Sins are the things we do that make God unhappy
  • Doing, saying or thinking bad things are sins
  • Telling lies, disobeying your parents, hurting others and being selfish are examples of sins
  • All of us have sinned

Do you know what "sin" means?

What were some of the things you have done that may have made God unhappy?

Rom 3:23
Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glorious standard.

4 When we add food coloring to the water, it stains the water. The water becomes dirty.

5 In the same way, when we sin, our hearts become stained.

6 When our hearts become stained by our sins, it prevents us from having a relationship with God.

  • Because of sin, our hearts are no longer clean
  • God is perfect. Perfectly good, and perfectly clean
  • Because God is perfectly clean, he can only allow those with clean hearts into heaven
  • The punishment for our sins is that we can't be with God in heaven.

If God can only allow those with clean hearts into heaven, do you think you will be able to join God in heaven?

Rom 6:23
The payment for sin is death.

7 On our own, we can't remove these stains from our hearts.

8 But God loves us so much that he provides a way for our hearts to be made clean.

9 Our hearts can only be made clean with Jesus' help.

  • God loves us so much that he sent his son, Jesus, to earth
  • Jesus was a man who was different from any other person
  • Jesus is God and never sinned

10 Jesus came from heaven to earth to take the punishment for our sins.

  • Instead of us being punished, he took our place
  • Jesus died on the cross so that all the wrong things that we have done can be forgiven
  • And on the third day, Jesus became alive again

Do you know who Jesus is?

Do you know when we celebrate Jesus' birth?

Rom 5:8
But God shows his great love for us in this way: Christ died for us while we were still sinners.

Rom 6:23
The payment for sin is death. But God gives us the free gift of life forever in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Acts 13:30, 31
But God raised him up from the dead! After this, for many days, those who had gone with Jesus from Galilee to Jerusalem saw him.

11 When Jesus took the punishment for our sins, something amazing happened.

Slowly pour liquid bleach into the water jug.

12 When we add bleach to the stained water, it cleans the water. The water becomes clean again.

13 In the same way, when we accept Jesus into our lives, Jesus has the power to remove the stains from our hearts and make our hearts clean.

Do you know what amazing thing happened?

14 Jesus made it possible for our hearts to be made clean. But before our hearts can be made clean, we need to:

  • Admit that we have sinned and ask God to forgive us
  • Believe that Jesus died on the cross to be punished instead of us, and
  • Invite Jesus into our lives to help us turn away from sin

Do you want your heart to be made clean?

Do you believe that Jesus died on the cross to take your punishment?

Do you want to ask God to forgive you?

Do you want to invite Jesus into your life?

1 John 1:9
But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done.

15 When we do these things sincerely, our hearts will be made clean.

16 When our hearts are made clean, we can be with God.

17 We can now have a relationship with God.

  • We can become children of God
  • We can call God our Father

Would you like to have a relationship with God?

18 We can one day be with God in heaven.

  • Heaven is a wonderful place.
  • There is no sickness, no pain and no hunger
  • No one ever dies
  • Everyone is perfectly happy
  • The most wonderful thing about heaven is that it is God's home.

What do you think heaven is like?

Would you like to be with God in heaven?

Rev 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death, sadness, crying, or pain.

Rev 21:21
The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate having been made from a single pearl. And the street of the city was made of pure gold as clear as glass.

John 1:12
But to all who did accept him and believe in him he gave the right to become children of God.

John 3:16
God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.

19 Invite the child to sincerely pray for forgiveness and for Jesus to come into his/her life.

20 Saying this prayer sincerely means:

  • You are truly sorry for all the wrong things you have done
  • You truly believe that Jesus took the punishment for your sins
  • You truly want to start a relationship with Jesus to help you turn from all the wrong things you have done and do what is right

Sample Prayer

Dear Jesus,
Thank you for loving me. I know that I have sinned. I have done things that are wrong. I believe that you died on the cross to pay the price for my sins. Please forgive all of my sins and make my heart clean. Please come into my life and help me turn away from doing wrong. Thank you that with a clean heart, I can have a relationship with you and will one day be with you in heaven.
