The gold stripes remind us of heaven.
The most wonderful thing about heaven is that it is God’s home.
God loves us and wants us all to be with him in heaven.
Rev 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death, sadness, crying, or pain.
Rev 21:21
The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate having been made from a single pearl. And the street of the city was made of pure gold as clear as glass.
The dark stripe reminds us of sin.
Sins are the things we do that make God unhappy.
Telling lies and disobeying our parents are examples of sins.
Because of sin, our hearts are no longer clean and we cannot be with God.
On our own, we can’t make our hearts clean.
Rom 3:23
Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God’s glorious standard.
Rom 6:23
The payment for sin is death.
The red cross reminds us of the blood of Jesus.
Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins.
On the third day, Jesus became alive again.
Rom 5:8
But God shows his great love for us in this way: Christ died for us while we were still sinners.
Acts 13:30, 31
But God raised him up from the dead! After this, for many days, those who had gone with Jesus from Galilee to Jerusalem saw him.
The clean stripe reminds us that because Jesus took the punishment for our sins, our hearts can now be made clean.
1 John 1:9
But if we confess our sins, He will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done.
John 1:12
But to all who did accept him and believe in him he gave the right to become children of God.
John 3:16
God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.
You can talk to Jesus right now:
Dear Jesus, thank you for loving me. I know that I have sinned. I believe that you died on the cross to take the punishment for my sins. Please forgive all of my sins and make my heart clean. Please come into my life and help me turn away from doing wrong. Thank you that I can now have a relationship with you and will one day be with you in heaven. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Green reminds us that it is important to grow in our relationship with Jesus by talking to God, reading God’s word, the Bible, and obeying him.

The instructions can be challenging, but if you persevere, this is a great hands-on lesson for kids. I used it with K-2nd grade kids. I scanned the instruction sheet and projected it, step by step, for the group. Key: Have kids write their name somewhere visible on the airplane before allowing them to take flight!
I thought the paper would be thicker but the pro is that it is lighter and not bulky if you are traveling with them.
I have been teaching Sunday School for over 30 years. I have worked with all levels from toddler to high school. I truly believe our primary mission is to use God’s Word to lead those in our care to the Lord. I am always on the lookout for different ways to share the Gospel in age appropriate ways.
These Gospel Planes are a real find! I was working with our 4th and 5th grade class when I first used these paper planes. The kids loved them! We worked together at the end of class folding the planes one step at a time and I was able to give the Gospel presentation while we folded. Every single student was participating. Was it time consuming? Yes, a bit. Did some kids need more help than others? Absolutely. It wasn’t just me who helped…the kids were so into it they were helping each other as well. One of my adult helpers is a Navy pilot so that made it even more fun!
Most Sundays there are papers left behind after kids run out of class. This particular Sunday, every kid stayed glued to their seat until the planes were completed. Then I had the sweet pleasure of watching them share the planes and the Gospel with friends and family outside the class. Not one plane was left behind. I even had a few boys ask for extras for their brothers or friends.
Another adult helper is a grammar school gym teacher, and he asked for a pack to use with his after school 2nd/3rd grade club!
I am ordering more packs to keep on hand because these planes make sharing the Gospel fun and easy!
My 3 rd graders and my teachers! had a hard time folding this airplane. Instructions not clear on which side up to fold.
