Yellow reminds us of heaven.
God wants us all to be with him in heaven.

The dark panel reminds us of sin.
Because we have all sinned, we cannot get to heaven on our own.

Red reminds us of the blood of Jesus.
Jesus came to earth to take the punishment for our sins by dying on the cross.

The clean panel reminds us that we can be made clean from sin by believing in Jesus.
When we believe in Jesus, we can have a relationship with God and will one day be with him in heaven.

Green reminds us of things that grow.
It is important that we grow in our relationship with Jesus.

There are many ways you can use these Wordless Footbags. We suggest playing one or more of these footbag games with a group of children.

In between games, take the opportunity to share the gospel with them.

Suggested Footbag Games

Footbag, also known as “Hacky Sack”, is a sport that involves kicking the footbag with your feet, knees, shoulders, head or any part of your body.

Hands and arms are not allowed except for the initial dropping of the footbag (called “serving”). Footbags can be played with individually, or in a group and there are many ways that you can play.

Here are some suggested games for beginners.

Hacking It Up

The objective of this game is to keep the footbag in the air for as long as possible. You can play this game alone or with two or more players.

Hacking It Up Alone

When playing alone, challenge yourself to see how many times you can kick the footbag before it drops to the ground.

Hacking It Up with Two or More Players

When playing with two or more players, have everyone stand in a circle. One player starts by serving the footbag to another player. Everyone tries to keep the footbag in the air for as long as possible.

You can vary the game in several ways:

Specify the number of times each player must kick the footbag before passing it to another player.
Specify that each player must always kick the footbag to the player on his left.
Specify that each player can kick the footbag to anyone except the player next to him.
If there are younger children in the group, allow these younger children to use their hands.
Divide the group into two teams and place a net in between the teams. Play a game similar to volleyball.

Be creative and come up with your own variations!

Playing with Younger Children

Kicking a footbag can be a challenging task for some children, especially the younger ones.

You can play any of the above games with your hands instead.

You can also play with it like a beanbag. For example:

Balance it on your head and walk or run a certain distance.
Balance it on your head and walk or run over some obstacles.
Toss it into a basket placed a short distance away.
Have one person toss the footbag in the air and another person catch it with a basket.

Be creative and come up with your own variations!

The possibilities are endless!

Here are some key points to cover as you present the gospel using the Wordless Footbag.

You may need to tailor your gospel presentation to suit the age of your audience.

Use Bible Verses where appropriate, but be careful not to overload your listener with too many verses.

1

Yellow reminds us of heaven.

2

The most wonderful thing about heaven is that it is God’s home.

3

God loves us and wants us all to be with him in heaven.

Rev 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death, sadness, crying, or pain.

Rev 21:21
The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate having been made from a single pearl. And the street of the city was made of pure gold as clear as glass.

1

The dark panel reminds us of sin.

2

Sins are the things we do that make God unhappy.

3

Telling lies and disobeying our parents are examples of sins.

4

Because of sin, our hearts are no longer clean and we cannot be with God.

5

On our own, we can’t make our hearts clean.

Rom 3:23
Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God’s glorious standard.

1

Red reminds us of the blood of Jesus.

2

Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins.

3

On the third day, Jesus became alive again.

Rom 5:8
But God shows his great love for us in this way: Christ died for us while we were still sinners.

Acts 13:30, 31
But God raised him up from the dead! After this, for many days, those who had gone with Jesus from Galilee to Jerusalem saw him.

1

The clean panel reminds us that because Jesus took the punishment for our sins, our hearts can now be made clean.

2

We now can have a relationship with God and will one day be with him in heaven if we:

Admit that we have sinned and ask God to forgive us,
Believe that Jesus died on the cross to be punished instead of us, and
Invite Jesus into our lives to help us turn away from sin

1 John 1:9
But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done.

You can talk to Jesus right now:

Dear Jesus, Thank you for loving me. I know that I have sinned. I believe that you died on the cross to take the punishment for my sins. Please forgive all of my sins and make my heart clean. Please come into my life and help me turn away from doing wrong. Thank you that I can now have a relationship with you and will one day be with you in heaven. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

1

Green reminds us that it is important to grow in our relationship with Jesus by talking to God, reading God’s word, the Bible, and obeying him.
